National teams' mentors spoke up about previous game on after-match conference

01 February 2018

Svenne Olsson – head coach of national team Sweden

- The game was hard as always with team Russia. Nevertheless, we were playing defensively and offensively well today. We were lacking some players but the rest did their best. I am extremely glad with the match results.

Mikhail Yuriev – Head coach of national team Russia

- Just the opposite: today we aren't happy with neither results nor the game. I reckon that two playing periods affected the match strongly, that was the beginning of the match when we missed two rather quick scores. After we drew even, we respired but two penalties which the opponent took advantage of, probably, defined the match results.

- Last time you were playing with national team Sweden in Söderhamn on 4-nation tournament. Compared to that match, today did some other national team Sweden play or was it national team Russia which didn't get into the game?

- It seemed to me that national team Sweden played faster today. We didn't manage to achieve the speed that we could play at. This is the issue that we need to sort out primarily. It may be either the issue of psychology or something else. I don't think that it was lack of attitude rather on the contrary — some barriers: too big audience. But we have many guys who have played more than one match in such conditions. I believe we will handle it.

- There were many hazardous moments. Are all players safe and sound?

- All are safe and sound.

- A question to both coaches regarding tomorrow. What are you planning to be at during the day-off?

Mikhail Yuriev: tomorrow we are going to have a light training and discuss the match.

Svenne Olsson: We are planning to attend conference before lunch. After we'll have free time; we are planning to visit some large shopping mall, then we'll conduct a light training and will be getting prepared for the next game.

- What do you think of opponents in quarter-final? Whom would you rather play with?

Mikhail Yuriev: I don't know whom we are going to play with; I don't know the results of today's matches.

Svenne Olsson: The team to play with is unknown, but Russia as well as Sweden will win in quarter-final.
